Now I really want that boat..apparently it can hold 20 passengers! I'm joking about that part, but that is a well built vessel to make it that far with 20 people in windy conditions...

SAN CLEMENTE ---- Authorities said they arrested 20 Mexican citizens after they tried to enter the United States illegally by boat Monday at an Orange County beach.

U.S. Border Patrol said the 17 men and three women were picked up after agents saw them come ashore at San Clemente State Beach about 3 a.m. Monday.

A 36-year-old woman broke her leg after jumping from the boat and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The rest of the group was taken to a Border Patrol station for processing.

I was fishing bass yesterday on a friends boat and saw something I have never seen before. We noticed the Harbor Patrol boat approaching us and saw they were towing a boat. Turns out it was a panga from Ensenada with a 200 hp Yamaha. They had 3 officers on the patrol boat glassing the beach for what we assume were the passengers of the panga. What do they do with the boat now, return it to Ensenada or sell it by auction? Just curious because it was a very clean looking rig that I would love to have....

Thank you for the report - I usually will report, good, bad or ugly.

I stopped by to see Tim yesterday afternoon and he mentioned things have been a little slow - water temp cooled back down.  I may give it a go on Labor Day but just go work some of the local secret spots and see if anybody's home.

Beerman,
You are right on the money!
Reports are the backbone of motivation for our people. And good or not good, we still vicariously anticipate our future outings on the briny deep as a result of having read these reports! So keep up the great work. We love it. Jerry/Piranha  Wink Smiley

hi gang..I havn't been fishing Dana much this summer as I've been concentrating on the LA harbor (Cabrillo) area. Well went today and it was real tough fishing. Water was cold (as it has been the last few trips)...like 63 ish....worked the squid tipped plastics hard for two bites....only one stuck..a big grumpy sand bass. Oh well,at least got the yak wet.I'm making my next outing Dana..not much of a report, but any report is better then none...right Jerry?

here here...I read a study that said the 'carbon footprint' of a Prius is about the same as a Cadillac Escalade due to the batteries.

There's a lot of stuff that they do that makes it look like they care about the environment, but actually does more harm than good.  A lot of it comes down to emotion vs. logic.  Hit em with logic and they'll start calling you names!

We could always use depleted uranium...just a thought!  No more radioactive than Mexican rebar  Grin

i agree that there is all kinds of differant alloys and materials we could be using for fishing weights.

Problem is the cost to manfacture them. on top of the cost of material. Those Tungsten weights are rediculously expensive when your comparing them to lead. Its something 2 times out of 10 is going to wind up in the bottom of the ocean.

Lead is alot cheaper than what you see in tackle shops. They got independant weight makers on bloodydecks shelling out leg weights in any size/type you want and selling them pretty darn cheap.

Its all about controll, the nastiest thing your want in a clean water supply is battery acide and lead. and Thats exactly whats in that big battery of those Toyota prius.

now state workers are going into local buisness and plucking furniture out of furniture stores so they could burn it and test its "burnability" with without recompensated for the cost or loss of the chair. the chair was already tested and had the stickers to aprove it was fire safe.... fromt he mnufacture.  Thats borderlined SS gestapo

Now we got AB32 comming up on the ballot. it could crush buisness from even operating in this state anymore, just new Diesel Fuel regulations are bad enough and the bill is full of all kinds of pretty jewels that the State gestapo says we need.

Just like the MLPA, Its not going to make fishing better, its all about controll. at the expense of buisness and everyone else.

Hey Brett, Lead is heavy, cheap, and easily malleable. It is abundantly available!  Shocked

I can understand the ban on lead pellets in the condor area since condors are essentially large vultures and eat carrion. Lots of birds and animals shot by hunters using shotguns escape to die later where the hunter can't find them! But the condor can find them and in eating from their carcasses often ingests(ingested?) lead shot. This ultimately could cause lead poisoning in an endangered species! But I don't accept the ban on lead as it is used in fishing.

Take it out of kiddie toys from China, paint, and foodstuffs, but gimme my sinkers. BTW, since its removal from anti fouling bottom paint for boats in California, people are buying contraband bottom paints (i.e red lead!) from other geographic locations! Piranha  Wink Angry Shocked
